Hi, I’m Domenico La Porta, the founder of StoryTricks and your go-to guy for spinning yarns in the worlds of movies, TV shows, and the wild realm of video games. Picture this: I was once a movie critic devouring over 500 flicks a year! How’s that for film school? After a 15-year binge, I started to see the code in the storytelling Matrix and started a script doctoring gig that became quite popular.

Fast forward to today. I’m a professional screenwriter now. When I’m not cooking up my next story, you’ll find me buried in books about scriptwriting and neuroscience. I absolutely love sharing this passion by teaching narrative design at the university and flying around the globe to deliver talks and workshops for creative industries and writers.

On this stimulating journey, I realised that I needed a killer set of tools to perfect my craft — and fast! Theory is one thing, but practice makes perfect, right? So I practiced a lot. I write films, TV series, and video games, sometimes comics, XR, and tabletop adventures too.

In my workshops, people would often tell me : “Dom, you’ve got to share these tricks with the world, they’re like cheat codes!” I’d laugh and say, “Sure, maybe if I ever find myself cooped up at home with nothing but time on my hands — like, say, during a global pandemic?” Then came 2020, and oh boy, did it make me eat my words — echoing that old saying, “Be careful what you wish for.” The idea of StoryTricks® was born…
